From Melbourne radio host to global producer

Ginni Media was born from a love of storytelling and a leap of faith. Founded by Ginni Saraswati — a radio host turned podcast producer — this NYC-based company has grown from a solo passion project into a global production studio creating 30+ shows weekly. From her first clients in Melbourne to Fortune 500 companies across the U.S., Ginni Media's mission remains the same:

The early years

Ginni Saraswati’s family migrated to Australia from Sri Lanka when she was two years old. Shy and timid, in her first weeks at school, she didn’t speak at all. It was only through the encouragement of her teachers and best friend that she found the confidence to speak up — and when she did, she found she had a lot to say.

1988

starting in radio

While studying Media and Creative Arts at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Ginni answered an ad for a trainee program at Joy 94.9 FM. She signed up with the intention of working behind the scenes — but within a month, she was behind the mic, and something clicked.

2007

Hosting primetime shows

Ginni went on to host two primetime shows on Joy: The Hump Day Crew and Rise Up Radio, brightening the morning commute for thousands of listeners. Her voice also made its way to international airwaves via LA Talk Radio.

2009

Falling in love with podcasting

On her first trip to New York, Ginni fell in love — with the pulse of the city, its artistic soul, and its spirit of reinvention. The trip planted a seed. She started to imagine new ways to fuse her love of radio with emerging technology and on-demand storytelling.

2011

becoming a podcaster

Ginni launched The Ginni Show, a warm, offbeat audio diary about her life, identity, and adventures. Her unique voice stood out in the early podcasting space — and people took notice.

2017

Launching Ginni Media

With a suitcase and a vision, Ginni Moved to New York and officially registered Ginni Media as a business. In the early days, the company ran out of a small bedroom in Queens and from cafes all over the city. But that didn’t stop her from signing her first major clients: Siemens and Conde Nast. Ginni Media hit its first six-figure year straight out of the gate.

2018

Scaling the Offbeat

In the middle of worldwide lockdowns, our company culture stayed true to setting out to do the impossible.In partnership, we co-created a program designed to launch podcasters fast, Ginni Media helped launch 33 shows… in a single day. (And yes, we did it again that year. Twice.)

The company doubled its revenue for the second year in a row.

2020

going global

As the industry took notice, so did the press. Ginni Media was featured in outlets like Business Insider, Entrepreneur, and Forbes. The brand also introduced its first tagline, Made Offbeat, celebrating its signature blend of heart, humor, and edge.

Another year, another revenue milestone: doubled again.

2021

new home, new horizons

Ginni Media expanded to offer remote recording services and moved into its first official headquarters in Brooklyn’s Water Street district. The team continued to scale with intention — doubling revenue for the third consecutive year.

2022

on the move

The studio hit the road, capturing content from some of the world’s most iconic locations and brands: Epic Universe, Disney World, top-tier medical conferences, and the Grand Ole Opry.

2024

media that moves

The brand evolved again, reintroducing itself as Media That Moves — a name that speaks to its heart: helping voices move the world.

Ginni Media was nominated for an Ambie Award for Best Branded Podcast — a powerful reminder of just how far that shy girl from Sri Lanka has come.
