Last year saw a record number of new podcasts. In such a young-yet-booming industry there can be a danger of losing your idea within a saturated market. Ginni Media CEO Ginni Saraswati advises that, by finding a niche in your sector, you’ll have a greater chance of standing out and connecting with your audience.
Focus on niche content that’s original or untold.
In her article on PR News, Saraswati explains, “Finding an audience for a podcast means creating content that engages, entertains, and educates…Hone in on things that make you different.”
Ginni provides three pieces of advice for PR professionals looking to find a niche:
- Avoid skimming the surface and instead dig deeper
- Source ideas from your active audience
- Position yourself as a leader in the PR space
And, if in doubt, stay true to your authentic self. What interests you? Ginni says: “If you speak from the heart and share wisdom or lessons that people can’t get elsewhere, your style will fall into a niche of its own.”
