Emerging Podcasters: How to Get Ahead [ACTION AND AMBITION with Andrew Medal]

If you worry about how to start a podcast right out of the gate, you’re not alone. Focus on presenting in a certain way or developing a certain style too early into your podcasting journey, and you block yourself.

Flip the script. Literally. Chuck out any scripted words and focus on what you already know. That will help you to overcome your fear of the microphone. Think of it as a conversation between you and your listener!

When Andrew Medal of Action and Ambition asked Ginni for her tips to overcome the fears of being on-mic, she said, “Relax. Write down a few points and avoid a script. People always know when you’re reading from a script!”

If you really don’t know where to start, ask a random question. It’s a great way to take the conversation to an unexpected place that may turn out to be the golden nugget that you didn’t even know it needed.

If you’re asking yourself if you should start a podcast, know this: Podcasting is a boom, not a bubble. It’s a powerful and intimate platform that has doubled in the last year to over 2 million podcasts.

Ginni offered listeners another big tip; that the key to a successful podcast is consistency. We are creatures of habit. If you listen to the same podcast every Monday and one week it’s not there, how do you feel? Chances are you’ll go searching for that information elsewhere.

This is why hiring a team is important. A full-service podcast production company can help keep you accountable, consistent, and help you create great content.
